Legendary United Kingdom Prime Minister WINSTON S. CHURCHILL hand-signed naturalization document dated May 12, 1910. In this document Churchill fulfills his role as Secretary of State for the Home Office. The certificate of naturalization is for "Giovanni Berne" and is signed once by Winston Churchill on the reverse of the document as "WsChurchill". 
 
Naturalization documents were issued to an "alien" who had lived in Britain for more than five years and wished to become a citizen. Naturalization documents were filled out and then signed by the home secretary which Winston Churchill served as during the years 1910 and 1911.
