Ninth President of the United States WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON scarce handwritten UNSIGNED envelope dated July 6th and postmarked from Cincinnati [OH]. The envelope is addressed to Peter Hagner, an appointee of George Washington who served in the Treasury Department for 56 years after his appointment under multiple administrations, including Harrison's. 

 

Authentic Harrison documents are relatively scarce and desirable, having served just 1 month in office as President of the United States. 

 

Envelope measures 3.25" x 4.25"; some scattered ink burn, foxing, docketing verso, folds. Free frank signature was previously removed cutting off some words.

 

WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON, Sr. was an American military officer and the ninth President of the United States. He was also the last president born as a British subject, and died of pneumonia just 31 days into his term, thereby serving the shortest tenure in United States Presidential history. Harrison was the son of Founding Father Benjamin Harrison V, and the grandfather of Benjamin Harrison the 23rd President of the United States.
