Twice elected President, ULYSSES S. GRANT (born Hiram Ulysses Grant (1822 - 1885) was the 18th President of the United States, from 1869 - 1877. Grant led the Union Armies to victory over the Confederacy in the American Civil War, which ended shortly after Robert E. Lee surrendered to him at Appomatox in 1865. It is frequently reported that Grant's middle name was "Simpson". In fact, it was not - his middle name was Ulysses and he later admitted that the "S" in his middle name simply stood for nothing.
Folds consistent with age, use and wear, as shown. Letter is in very fine condition given that it is 140+ years old.
