ROBERT TODD LINCOLN, American politician, lawyer, businessman and first son of President ABRAHAM LINCOLN and MARY TODD LINCOLN, scarce handwritten autograph check signed as "Robert T. Lincoln" on The Riggs National Bank check stock, dated 1921.
 
Robert was the only one of Lincoln's four sons to live an adult life, and the only member of the family to survive into the 20th century. A member of General Ulysses Grant's staff, he was present at Appomattox when Lee surrendered, and at his father's deathbed following his assassination at Ford's Theater. Robert Todd Lincoln was also present at the assassination of President James A. Garfield, serving as his Secretary of War at the time.
