JOHN HANCOCK (1737 – 1793) Authentic, bold signature as "JOHN HANCOCK" with flourish underneath on vellum cut. The signature is large measuring 5"x1.5" and was originally certified authentic by CHARLES HAMILTON as part of a larger lot for the distinguished John Carter Brown Library at BROWN UNIVERSITY.
This item was originally part of a "Declaration of Independence Signers Set" from the John Carter Brown Library collection. The library's director, Norman Fiering, had the set of signatures certified by legendary autograph expert CHARLES HAMILTON and later sold the collection to The Mayflower Traders, Ltd.
