5th President of the United States, JAMES MONROE, hand-signed free frank envelope postmarked Dec 4 [1812]. Monroe signs the envelope in the top right corner "Jas Monroe". The envelope is filled out in another hand but is marked as being sent from the "Dept of State", stamped "FREE" below Monroe's signature.
