TWO PRESIDENTS are brought together in this impressive, four-language ship's passport, printed in four-columns (English, French, Spanish and Dutch). President Madison and Secretary of State Monroe authorize Captain Isaac Jones of the schooner CANOWA, to pass from Philadelphia to Lisbon, Spain with a cargo of "Sundries". 

 

1 page, large oblong folio (16¾ x 21½in), 2 paper seals along left and bottom margins, archivally matted and handsomely framed under 98% UV-blocking conservation grade glassDampstained and lightly soiled, as shown, partial fold tear archivally repaired on verso, otherwise very good.
