Iconic American Nurse and Founder of the Red Cross CLARA BARTON hand-signed and inscribed first edition copy of her most desirable book "The Red Cross in Peace and War". Barton pens the inscription on the 2nd blank flyleaf. On the reverse of the signed page is an image of Barton which reads "from a portrait taken about 1875". This is one of the only copies we have ever seen signed by Barton. Inscribed to American Journalist William Wallace Price one of the first full time White House Correspondents. 

 
 
Barton has written a handsome and lengthy inscription to William Wallace Price who was a journalist, White House correspondent,  and was directly responsible for the creation of the White House press room. Barton thanks him for his "timely service well performed" and praises his job at the "all powerful press". 
 
 
Sale includes accompanying original LOA from the highly-respected Beckett (BAS) who have thoroughly examined the document and certify its authenticity. Autograph was assigned an impressive "Near Mint / Mint 8" grade. UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED GENUINE.
