21st President of the United States CHESTER A. ARTHUR hand-signed WHITE HOUSE card, as President, in PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed slab. Arthur inscribes the date on the card "Dec 20th, 1881." Arthur had just become President three months earlier after the assassination of James Garfield.

One day before signing this card Arthur did what he could to strengthen the Supreme Court of the United States by appointing Chief Justice Horace Gray, of Massachusetts, to a place on the bench. Greely was confirmed the same day the card was signed Dec. 20th, 1881.

Card is labeled "Executive Mansion" which was the formal name of the White House until Theodore Roosevelt changed it to "White House" in 1901.

Handsome steel-tip fountain pen signature. Signed card measures appx. 4" x 2.25" and is in overall good condition, evenly toned. Overall encapsulate measures 7.25"x4.25".
