Famed American aviation pioneer AMELIA EARHART (1897 - 1937) gorgeous, framed display containing ORIGINAL FABRIC from her beloved Lockheed Vega 5B. This fabric was flown during her nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic. These displays were originally issued in a limited quantity by the Smithsonian Institute in the 1970's while they were restoring the plane. Frame comes with ORIGINAL Smithsonian biographical paperwork.
 
Since they were offered up for sale in the 1970's, many of the pieces of Earhart's Vega 5B have remained in collections and museums, they are seldom offered up for auction. 
 
Square cut of red fabric measures approx. 2"x2" and is framed below a reproduction portrait of Earhart standing on the wheel of her Vega 5B. Descriptive text below the fabric explains the history of the Vega 5B, matted and framed under glass.
